Post-tensioned slabs, a new trend in residential construction

Highlights in this work the execution of the constructive typology of post-tensioned slabs, better known in civil works, although new trends are introducing it in residential building. This typology allows to reduce the number of pillars and increase the dimensions between them, in addition to reducing the edges of the slabs. This is a system that introduces the tensioning of its active reinforcement (steel wires) after concreting.

The use of post-tensioning also has economic and sustainability advantages as post-tensioned structures require fewer building materials and therefore, in addition to optimising their use, generate less carbon emissions in terms of production and transport.
